BJP MLA booked for fake video

BJP MLA Som Sangeet was booked on Tuesday for uploading a fake video on Facebook that incited communal tensions in Muzaffarnagar district and nearby areas of western Uttar Pradesh.

Mr Som was booked for promoting religious enmity, while FIRs were also filed against BJP Legislative Party leader Hukum Singh, party MLAs Suresh Rana and Kunwar Bhartendu and former Congress MP Harendra Malik for violating prohibitory orders.
Muzaffarnagar district magistrate Kaushal Raj said the MLA had been evading arrest.
Curfew was relaxed for over two hours on Tuesday in three areas of Muzaffarnagar, while the death toll in the clashes in the district and adjoining towns rose to 41. With no reports of any fresh violence, curfew was eased for two-and-a-half hours from 3.30 pm in Kotwali, Civil Lines and Nai Nandi areas, the DM sdaid.
State home secretary Kamal Saxena said two deaths were reported from Meerut, and one each from Hapur, Baghpat, Saharanpur and Shamli.
UP chief minister Akhi-lesh Yadav said here that efforts were being made to ensure no further violence took place in riot-hit
