Mistry will play key role in LS elections

Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry is a key Congress strategist for the coming Lok Sabha polls and has been assigned the responsibility of carrying out a survey in all 543 Lok Sabha seats and preparing a separate list of candidates for them to tally with findings from other sources.

From Andhra Pradesh, the Congress renominated all the three sitting Rajya Sabha MPs — K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, M.A. Khan and T. Subbarami Reddy, AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said. While Mr Khan hails from Hyderabad (Telangana), the other two are from the Seemandhra region.
The name of Sultanpur MP Sanjay Singh is doing the rounds for a Rajya Sabha seat from Assam. Earlier reports from Uttar Pradesh had claimed that Mr Sanjay Singh was planning to leave the Congress and moving closer to the BJP, and that the saffron party was planning to field him against Rahul Gandhi from the Amethi seat.
The party had earlier announced the names of seven candidates on Sunday. Tuesday is the last date for filing nominations for the February 7 polls, and scrutiny will be conducted the next day. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is January 31.
