In a bizarre development, a premier university of Chhattisgarh has launched a manhunt for its alumni, who have won gold medals by topping in various streams in the past two decades.

The authorities of the Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University (RSU), one of the oldest educational institutions of Central India, are working with breakneck speed to trace out around 650 alumni who have “forgotten” to claim their gold medals.
“We are frantically trying to locate the toppers who could not be presented gold medals due to their absence in the past annual convocations of the university . Around 650 gold medals have remained undelivered so far,” Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW) Dr K.K. Pande told this newspaper here on Friday.
The university, established in 1964, is celebrating its golden jubilee convocation in the current year. President of India Pranab Mukherjee may grace the occasion.
However, the university awaits a communication from the Rashtrapati Bhavan regarding his presence.
According to Dr Pandey, the university has also launched a publicity blitzkrieg in local media requesting presence of the past toppers in the forthcoming convocation to claim their gold medals. “We are also trying to contact the yesteryears toppers personally by taking their contact numbers from various sources calling them to collect their gold medals in the ensuing convocation”, a senior officer in the university said.
