A 24-year-old woman employee of IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was killed and her body found in a decomposed state a few hundred metres from her company at Siruseri, in IT SEZ, Sipcot, on Friday, a week after the young woman was reported missing.
The body was found amidst abandoned bushes, around 200 metres from the TCS gates, by locals there who informed the police. The body has been sent to Chengelpet Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The girl, identified as Uma Maheshwari, belongs to Aathur in Salem. She lived with her friends in a rented room in Medavakkam and was last seen around 10.30 pm on February 13 . When her father couldn’t reach her on the phone throughout the day, he came to Chennai and lodged a missing person complaint at Thalambur police station the next day.
According to her colleague, on Thursday night the woman had last called a teammate to enquire about how to book a cab.
Maheshwari had joined TCS’ Siruseri office just 45 days ago.
