Opp. parties to boycott gov speech

The vote-on-account session of the state starting from Monday is set be a stormy one as the Opposition parties have decided to take a stand that is a lot more aggressive than usual.

The Opposition parties comprising BJP, Shiv Sena, MNS and PWP (Peasants and Workers) has decided not only to boycott the customary tea party of the chief minister but also announced disruption the of budgetary speech to be addressed by governor K. Sankaranarayanan on the first day of the vote-on-account Session.
While CM Prithviraj Chavan expressed his willingness to discuss the report of the Adarsh inquiry commission, he also informed that the state government intends to approve twelve bills including the pending ones.
The Opposition parties are upset with the governor for not allowing the CBI to prosecute former chief minister Ashok Chavan in the Adarsh Housing scam owing to which they have decided to disrupt the governor’s speech. To discuss their strategy for the vote-on-account session that will last for only four days, the Opposition leaders met on Sunday afternoon.
