As AAP steals Cong thunder, Vaghela faces revolt in party

By taking on the BJP’s Narendra Modi on his home turf in Gujarat, and in New Delhi, the AAP seemed to have stolen the thunder from the Congress. Another school of thought, however, observed that in the absence of the Congress as a strong opposition against the Modi-led BJP, the AAP was acting as “Congress’ B-team”.
Making clear the party’s support to the AAP on its tirade against Mr Modi, the Congress on Thursday “welcomed” Arvind Kejriwal’s tour of Gujarat, saying there was “another voice” in the country exposing the “deficiencies” and development “myth” of Mr Modi.
Factionalism and rebellion continued in the Congress. Senior Congress leaders in Gujarat have written a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi alleging that Shankersinh Vaghela, Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly, “is helping BJP prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi in finishing off the party in Gujarat”.
