Stung by the three-AK taunt, defence minister A.K. Antony has said if Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi is a true patriot he will never have make a statement that will demoralise the armed forces.
At a meeting at the Press Club here on Saturday, Mr Antony prefaced his address saying he would be brutally frank. Mr Modi “is day and night trying to become the Prime Minister. Do you think it’s an appropriate statement? A true patriot will not make such a comment as it will only demoralise our armed forces who are protecting our borders and internal security. I am sorry he has made such a comment as it will only help our enemy”.
Mr Antony was referring to the Modi remark that three AK’s were popular in Pakistan. AK-47, A.K. Antony and AK-49 (Arvind Kejriwal) had emerged as Pakistan commanders on the Indian side. While AK-47 was being used to bleed India, the second was A.K. Antony, who made a statement in Parliament that those who beheaded Indian soldiers wore Pak Army fatigues while the Indian Army clarified they were Pakistanis.
Mr Antony said there was no wave in favour of Mr Modi, who posed a threat to the integrity of the country.
