A day after EC cracked the whip against Azam Khan for his remarks on Kargil war, Ghaziabad police on Saturday booked the UP minister on Sections 505 (2) (statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill- will between classes) and 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The police also said that he has also been booked under Section 125 of the Representa-tion of the People Act.
SDM has said in his complaint that the words Mr Khan had used during his party rally on April 7, was aimed at promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion and race.
Before registering the FIR, Ghaziabad DM and ADM held a meeting with SSP to discuss the next course of action. The decision to book Mr Khan was taken and within few minutes he was registered for his alleged inflammatory speech.
