Providing relief to former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi, the Supreme Court on Wednesday said that the results of the Rajasthan Cricket Association election will be declared on May 6. Mr Modi is believed to have won the poll for the post of president and the BCCI has been objecting to the result being made public.
A bench headed by Justice A.R. Dave directed the registry to send the results, filed before it in a sealed envelope, to its appointed observer Justice N.M. Kasliwal (Retd) to declare the result. The court, however, said that anyone aggrieved with the outcome of the elections can challenge it before an appropriate authority.
The apex court had on November 20, 2013 made Justice Kasliwal a principal observer to oversee the elections. Mr Modi was allowed to fight for the post of RCA president in the December 19 elections held under the supervision of a Supreme Court-appointed observer.
