Fearing the rail fare hike might affect the prospects of the Shiv Sena in the impending Maharashtra Assembly polls, the party has criticised the move. It has termed the hike as “not in favour of the common man” and warned rail minister Sadananda Gowda that he would be liable to provide results, based on the hike.
“Mr Gowda in his first move has brought about a steep fare hike, which is like running the train over the common man ...” an editorial in Sena mouthpiece Saamana said on Monday.
