Students seeking admission to Delhi University can breathe a sigh in relief. DU on Saturday formally scrapped its four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP) and decided to begin admissions under the three-year programme for the current academic year from Tuesday onwards. There had been days of uncertainty over the commencement of admissions due to a deadlock between DU and the University Grants Commission over the controversial FYUP.

The final schedule was announced Saturday evening after the committee of principals constituted by the DU vice-chancellor to advise on undergraduate admissions held its first session. The first cut-off list will be announced on Tuesday and DU admissions will begin the same day. On the other hand, the varsity also scrapped admissions to the B.Tech and Bachelors in Business Management (BMS) courses for the current academic year, leaving in the lurch over 2,500 students who were expected to apply for these courses. “Admiss-ions are starting on the same day that the cut-offs are announced because a lot of time has already been lost,” said a top member of the committee.
