Commander of a military company of CPI(Maoist) and his Naxal wife, who together carried a reward of Rs 3 lakhs on their heads, on Monday surrendered before Bastar police in Chhattisgarh.
Sampat alias Stutee (38), who was a commander of military company no six of the banned outfit, and his wife Asmati Netam (22), who served in the medical wing of the reds, surrendered in the district headquarters town of Kondagaon under Bastar division, according to Bastar inspector general of police (IGP) S.R.P Kalluri. Sampat, who carries a reward of Rs 2 lakhs on his head, was allegedly involved in 20 major attacks in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh.
Asmati, who carries a reward of Rs 1 lakh, on her head, used to treat sick Naxal cadres.
He also accompanied top Maoist leaders including CPI(Maoist) supremo Ganpati alias Muppala Laxmana Rao, and central committee members Sonu alias Bhupati, Kosa alias K Satyanarayana Reddy, and Rammana alias Ravula Srinivas during several operations.
Similarly, Asmati who carries a reward of Rs one lakh on her head, was treating sick Naxal cadres.
The Naxal couple surrendered along with a nine mm carbine gun, four rounds, and a country-made pistol.
