Laying down the roadmap for the future course of the party in West Bengal, BJP president Amit Shah has directed the party leaders not to leave an “inch of space” to the ruling Trinamul Congress and asked them to launch multiple movements.

After the two-day state committee meeting, where Mr Shah delivered the concluding speech, the state BJP leaders said the contest would be between the BJP and the Trinamul Congress in the upcoming elections. “He has asked us to strengthen our base from the booth level and organise campaigns and agitation against the misrule of the Trinamul Congress, “ state BJP president Rahul Sinha told this newspaper.

Headed by Mr Sinha, a three-member committee comprising party MP S.S. Ahluwalia and party national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh has been formed which would chalk out strategies for the upcoming municipality elections and the 2016 Assembly elections.

“We have been asked to make our leaders in charge of five committees which would work on separate segments. A new membership drive will begin from the month of November and Mr Shah has emphasised on the need to include youth into the party,” a senior BJP leader said.

According to him, the state unit will no longer wait for a signal fromthe Centre and will execute their plans independently. “The Saradha scam remains the core issue for us and based on that we have to increased the campaign programme against the Mamata Banerjee government through grassroot-level meetings, putting up graffiti and staging protests at every police station,” a state BJP leader said.
