After being dropped from the BJP’s highest decision-making body, the parliamentary board, and accommodated in a new body called “margdarshak mandal (guiding group)”, party veterans L.K. Advani and M.M. Joshi might not campaign in the poll-bound states of Maharashtra and Haryana.
While their names might figure in the list of the party’s campaigners submitted to the Election Commission, the two leaders might not campaign as their is no demand from the state units for the party veterans.
Sources disclosed Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first choice from both the Maharashtra and Haryana state units. Speculation is rife in the BJP that both Mr Advani and Mr Joshi will not campaign in the two states where polling is scheduled on October 15.
Mr Modi is expected to address at least 15 public rallies and the number could increase once he returns from the US and the issue is discussed with him. The BJP campaign in both states will be focused on good governance and development.
