Gadkari to contest LS polls from Nagpur

Former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari will contest the Lok Sabha polls from Nagpur parliamentary constituency. Sources disclosed, though the party leadership has taken a decision in this regard, a formal announcement will be made only after the party’s Central election committee (CEC) clears the list of candidates. BJP chief Rajnath Singh had announced on Sunday that his party was ready even if the country has to go through early general polls. However, on the issue of party’s prime ministerial candidate for the Lok Sabha polls, the party had been maintaining that the party’s parliamentary board will take a final call on this issue. Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi is considered as the front-runner for the PM candidate post.
Sources disclosed the BJP is planning to allocate responsibilities for the Lok Sabha polls by April-end and is also hoping to prepare the list of candidates for the general polls by June. The party has already sent out a message to its cadre to be prepared as the main Opposition is sensing early Lok Sabha polls. Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi is expected to head the party’s overall campaign committee.
Mr Gadkari had on many occasions expressed his willingness to contest from the Nagpur parliamentary constituency.
